Which B.Tech specialisation has the best placement opportunities in 2025?

I am choosing between CSE, ECE, Mechanical and Civil for B.Tech. Which branch has the best placement packages? I want to work in IT or finance.

For IT careers: CSE is the clear winner, followed by ECE. For finance/quant roles: CSE and Maths have an edge. Mechanical and Civil are excellent for core engineering but IT placements are lower. However, any branch student can get into IT/finance if they build coding and analytical skills. Domain does not limit you as much as skills do.

I am a Mechanical engineer working at a top investment bank. Branch matters for your first placement, but skills and projects matter more. If you get into a good college, work on coding from Day 1 regardless of branch.
