About JEE Advanced
JEE Advanced is the gateway to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Only the top 2.5 lakh candidates from JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. It is considered one of the toughest engineering entrance exams in the world and requires deep conceptual understanding of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Eligibility Criteria
• Must have qualified JEE Main and be among the top 2,50,000 scorers. • Must have passed Class 12 for the first time in 2025 or 2026. • Maximum 2 attempts in consecutive years. • Date of birth: On or after October 1, 2001 (5 years relaxation for SC/ST/PwD).
Exam Pattern
Two compulsory papers (Paper 1 & Paper 2): • Each paper: 3 hours duration • Subjects in each paper: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics • Mixed question types: MCQ (single correct), MCQ (multiple correct), Integer type, Matrix match • Negative marking varies by question type • Total marks: 360 (180 per paper)
Syllabus
Physics: Mechanics, Thermal Physics, Electricity & Magnetism, Optics, Modern Physics — with emphasis on application and multi-concept problems. Chemistry: Physical Chemistry (Thermodynamics, Electrochemistry, Kinetics), Inorganic Chemistry (Periodic Table, Coordination Compounds), Organic Chemistry (Reaction Mechanisms, Stereochemistry). Mathematics: Algebra, Trigonometry, Analytical Geometry, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Vectors — problems require multiple concepts and creative thinking.
