About CLAT
CLAT is the centralised national-level entrance test for admission to undergraduate (BA LLB) and postgraduate (LLM) law programs at 24 National Law Universities (NLUs) across India. It is conducted by the Consortium of NLUs and is the most prestigious law entrance exam in India.
Eligibility Criteria
UG (BA LLB): • 10+2 or equivalent with minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ST). • Age limit: Must be below 20 years (22 for SC/ST/PwD). PG (LLM): • LLB degree with minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD). • No age limit for PG.
Exam Pattern
UG CLAT: • Total Questions: 120 • Duration: 2 hours • Marking: +1 for correct, -0.25 for incorrect • Comprehension-based passages for all sections PG CLAT: • Total Questions: 120 • Duration: 2 hours • Focus on constitutional law, jurisprudence
Syllabus
UG CLAT Syllabus: • English Language (20%): Comprehension, vocabulary, grammar • Current Affairs & GK (25%): Legal awareness, current events • Legal Reasoning (25%): Principles and application, legal maxims • Logical Reasoning (20%): Analogy, series, critical reasoning • Quantitative Techniques (10%): Basic maths, data interpretation
